In most trades, one extra job a month pays for a $700 to $1,300 site; in roofing and HVAC, where a replacement runs near $10,000, one extra job a quarter does. The question is not whether the site costs $8,400 or $15,600 a year; it is whether a faster site with the call button on the first screen wins one job a month that the slow one lost.
The free audit is built to estimate that for your site before you spend anything.
The arithmetic, per trade
Using the category tickets printed in our audits and a 40% gross margin on the job (your number replaces it):
| Trade | Category ticket | Margin at 40% | Jobs a year to cover Growth ($11,400) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roofing | $9,600 replacement | $3,840 | 3 |
| HVAC | $9,800 system | $3,920 | 3 |
| Kitchen remodel | $24,000 | $9,600 | 2 (1.2) |
| Electrical | $2,500 panel upgrade | $1,000 | 12 |
| Plumbing | $1,400 water heater | $560 | 21 |
Growth is $950 a month, $11,400 a year; Standard at $700 is $8,400 and the job counts drop by a quarter. For a plumber, 21 water heaters a year is under two a month, from a site that is open every night when the current one is not answering. For a roofer it is three roofs a year, which is one storm.
Where the extra jobs come from
Three places the audit measures: the homeowners who left before a slow page drew (the speed guide works out that share), the ones who could not find the call button on the first phone screen, and, with the weekly work, the towns and services you did not rank for last year. None of these is a promise; the audit labels every figure an estimate and prints the assumptions. The cost guide has the three-year comparison with the other ways a site is sold.
What if the site wins zero extra jobs?
Then it still replaced your hosting, SSL, backups and the web person's hourly bills, and the first 14 days have a full refund if the staging site is not what you wanted. But the audit exists so you can see the gap on a phone, next to your competitor, before deciding.
Why count margin and not revenue?
Because the fee comes out of what you keep. Revenue makes every website look cheap; margin is the honest comparison.
